Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certified Histology Technician
Under the supervision of a laboratory supervisor, performs slide based Histological assays, tests, and procedures and any other such tests conducted by a clinical Histology laboratory. Follows established and approved protocols of the department of Health. Performs quality assurance activities relating to procedure performance on Histological testing of Human tissue. Maintains equipment and records.
Job Responsibilities:
Embeds, cuts and stains tissue for histological examination.
Prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures. Ensures tissue preparation meets laboratory requirements.
Prepares and performs routine staining techniques.
Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.
Maintains records, as required by New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) regulation.
Enters information such as demographics, work orders, accession information, etc. into automated systems.
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have an Associate's Degree Clinical or Laboratory Sciences Or Technical Diploma - Certified Histological Technician Program.
Valid and current New York State Histological Technician License.
1- 2 years experience as Histotechnician Or Certification by ASCP in lieu of (1) one year experience.
Good communication (both written and oral), detail orientation and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of related laboratory terminology.
Knowledge of Histological techniques.
Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications: American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Certification as a Histotechnician.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $83,430.00 - $104,030.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
