Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time Pathology Assistant for our Atlantic Consolidated Laboratory to join a team of 18 pathologists, 6 full-time PA's and biopsy technicians in Morris Plains to work 11am-7pm including every other weekend. Responsibilities
Under the direction of Board-Certified Pathologists, the Pathologist Assistant will assist the Pathologist in the preparation and performance of all gross surgical examinations
Assisting in the preparation and performance of surgical specimen dissection by ensuring appropriate specimen accessioning
Obtaining pertinent clinical information and studies
Describing gross anatomic features
Dissecting surgical specimens
Preparing and submitting tissue for histologic processing
Obtaining and submitting specimens for additional analytic procedures (flow cytometry, IF, EM etc.)
Assisting in photographing gross specimens.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Master's Degree from a Pathologist Assistant Program or related field required
Pathologist Assistant Certification through the ASCP required within first year of employment
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements
Minimum Experience:
Minimum of two years' experience in Anatomic Pathology including surgical pathology, histology procedures/techniques, gross dissection of surgical specimens preferred
