Offering an exceptional opportunity, Carilion Clinic (CC), Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM), and the Department of Surgery, Section of Urology in Roanoke, Virginia are searching for a Chief of the Section to lead our growing team of six urologists and three advanced care practitioners in a clinic-based, academic program with remarkable prospects in teaching, research, and clinical urology. The Chief will direct the clinical, educational, and research activities for the Section, as well as the planning and building of a future Urologic Surgery Residency Program. This is a great chance to join a dynamic, academic multi-specialty group practice providing comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care for adults and children supported by state-of-the-art technology, advanced diagnostic tools and treatment options including Da Vinci Robots (Xi, X, and SP), ultrasound, and MRI guided prostate biopsy.
Based in the Level-1 763-bed trauma and academic health center, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital/Carilion Children’s Hospital, our program provides comprehensive urology coverage to over one million people in a large, rural, multi-state area. Urology services are also provided in several other Carilion hospitals, including Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Carilion Giles Community Hospital, and Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital. The section operates clinics in five satellite locations in the region. Clinical pathology is exceptionally broad, and our urologists perform the full breadth of procedures of all levels of complexity.

The CC-VTCSOM system stands on the brink of unprecedented expansion and opportunity through the burgeoning relationship with Virginia Tech. The position requires an academic appointment at VTCSOM.
Other requirements include:
MD/DO, Board Certification/Eligible in Urology
At least 5 years of progressive urology leadership in an academic setting with an academic rank of at least Associate Professor
Evidence of strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Physician leadership experience with emphasis on team building; development of integrated collaborative models of care, education, and research; and managing people and programs.
Experience with graduate medical education is preferred
Fellowship Training in a Urologic specialty is preferred
