WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Franciscan Health Olympia Fields is seeking a well-trained Board-Certified General Surgeon to work in our General Surgery practice located on our hospital campus in Olympia Fields, IL. Fellowship training is a plus but is not required. This person will also appreciate working in a community teaching hospital mentoring surgical residents and serving the needs of a diverse patient population.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
Full-time schedule - 2 to 3 half days in office, Scheduled OR time for elective cases, rotating coverage on in-hospital service with resident team
10 operating rooms (1 open Heart and 1 robotic)
Call is currently 1:3 with residents taking first call
Excellent subspecialty support from GI, Oncology, Pulmonary, Cardiology, etc.
General surgical volume in 2021 was approximately 900 cases. (This will undoubtedly grow as we get further away from the Covid epidemic).

WHO WE ARE:
Franciscan Health Olympia Fields is the largest academic medical center in the south Chicago suburbs. Our location is a very doable reverse commute for those who prefer the urban lifestyle of Chicago. Ambulatory patients are seen on the second floor of our 3700 building which is physically attached to our hospital where you will perform surgical procedures. There is no travel required -we work at only one site. Our work environment is pleasant, our facility is aesthetically pleasing, and your colleagues will be congenial.
Our general surgery group is part of Specialty Physicians of Illinois, LLC (SPI), a multispecialty group with 60 physicians and 20 APPs which is a wholly owned by Franciscan Alliance. Our group is full service with highly skilled surgeons who see consultations with complex pathology and who perform the full range of surgical procedures to address those problems. You will work collaboratively with our three current general surgeons and our general surgery residents. SPI will serve as the nucleus of your referral base which when coupled with our very active Emergency Department (ED), will ensure that you are very busy from day one. We are the exclusive providers of general surgery services to the hospital. In addition to our existing team, we are also recruiting another surgeon with advanced training in minimally invasive surgery with a strong interest in foregut procedures.
The patient mix in our community is both ethnically and financially diverse. The complexity and acuity of disease presenting through our very large ED is simply amazing and ensures a robust and intellectually stimulating practice experience for surgeons and trainees alike.
