A postdoctoral position is available in The Emory Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Laboratory, led by Dr. Edjah Nduom.

The Emory Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Laboratory attempts to harness the power of the immune system to fight brain tumors. Their work spans from the bedside to the bench and back. They focus on discovering new information about the immune biology of brain tumors, validate this information in the lab, and then use this knowledge to treat patients in clinical trials.

The group is currently recruiting a post-doctoral scientist whose training and goals overlap with the interests of its members, broadly in the areas of :

1) Molecular biology and the characterization of non-coding RNAs.2) Immunology, particularly in the regulation of myeloid cells.3) Immune-competent brain tumor models and immune therapy (in vitro and in vivo models).

The specific project(s) the successful applicant will be working on involves a combination of the above features, i.e. evaluating the differences in non-coding RNA expression in glioblastoma patient immune cells, then targeting selected immune-modulating non-coding RNAs, in vitro and in vivo.

The successful applicant will have completed a PhD in neuroscience, immunology, genetics, or related areas. Background in molecular biology with hands-on experience with CRISPR is preferred. Extra consideration will be given to applicants with experience in small animal survival surgery including intracerebral injections and flow cytometry. Tangible evidence of working in a collaborative environment where scientists overlap with clinicians and technology development will be highly valued.

The successful applicant will be given sufficient research support to ensure success, commensurate with needs detailed in a submitted budget. It is expected that the postdoctoral fellow will develop independent grant applications, in collaboration with other program faculty. The career development of the successful applicant will be a priority of the group.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
