Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full-Time Supervisor for Pathology at the Atlantic Consolidated Lab in Morris Plains to work 2PM - 10PM.
Responsibilities
Supervise histology technical laboratory personnel and workflow including but not limited to daily operation of the histology department evening shift (tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining), laboratory maintenance, and QC/QI.
Assists Anatomic Pathology Manager with histology staff continuing education development and training.
Assist the Anatomic Pathology Manager with reports, including but not limited to productivity, quality, and suggestions for improvement.
Manage the operations of the department on scheduled shift
Oversee and perform histology work - grossing, embedding, cutting, staining, QA
Maintain all quality and service standards
Adhere to department budget
Implement, enforce and monitor all QC, QA, service, safety and compliance indicators and programs
Staff supervision including but not limited to training, competency assessment
Perform interviews and all hiring
Annual employee performance evaluations
Hold staff meetings and maintain minutes
Produce, monitor and maintain productivity, quality and TAT metrics
Prepare and revise SOP's and manuals
Participation in inventory control
Documentation and timely completion of special projects
Oversee the cleanliness of the laboratory, organized and neat
Troubleshoot technical, equipment and computer related problems
Validation of methodology and instrumentation
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
BS/BA Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological, Chemical or Life Science required with minimum 4 years of histology experience
Must meet all College of American Pathologists (CAP) and CLIA requirements
Minimum Experience:
Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred
Ability to provide leadership and direction
Dependable, flexible and adaptable in all aspects of work, with strong interpersonal skills
Exceptional analytical, technical, and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Superior time management and critical thinking skills
Good working knowledge of computers; proficient in MS office applications preferred
Power Path, EPIC LIS preferred
License/Certifications:
Must meet all College of American Pathologists (CAP) and CLIA requirements
Certified as HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) required or similar nationally recognized certification required
