Schedule: 3pm - 1130pm Monday - Friday
Unit Description
The Medical/Surgical Stepdown Unit at Duke Raleigh Hospital is a 45-bed unit that serves patients with a wide range of diagnoses to include but not limited to sepsis, pneumonia, diabetes, sickle cell, and gastrointestinal complications. The unit also provides care to patients with mental health disorders and stepdown level of care patients (this includes cardiac drips, post cath lab recovery, peritoneal dialysis and more).
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Constant and direct observation of the patient.
Monitoring changes in the patient's physical, emotional, and mental condition. Communicate the status of the patient, including any changes. Observing and reporting patients' behavioral changes.
Document observation in the electronic health record.
Support staff with ambulation and mobilization of patients.
Support staff with personal hygiene: bathing, oral hygiene, nail care, and grooming. Support staff with repositioning, feeding, and toileting.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Work requires completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Work generally requires six months of experience in the hospital setting.
