Baylor Scott & White Health Department of Pathology is seeking a licensed physician with a specialty in Pathology and subspecialty board certification or eligibility in Neuropathology for a FT position in Temple, Texas to serve as Vice-Chair of Academic Pathology. The individual will provide senior oversight to research and education activities in the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Board Certification by the American Board of Pathology with sub-specialty board certification or certification eligibility in Neuropathology with documented record of academic excellence.
Clinical Pathology experience is helpful.
Possesses a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas by start date.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The incoming Vice-Chair will partner with the Chair as also academic and clinical collaborators to expand research and teaching in a modern department of pathology with cutting edge digital and genomic pathology and diagnostics.
Supervise academic activities that will include oversight of residency and fellowship directors.
Participate in hospital activities, particularly with the division and system service line of Neurosciences including call and Neuropathology diagnostics.
Innovate and actively participate in continuous improvement activities including continuing education.

Currently the department of pathology processes approximately 80,000 surgical specimens and over 400 neuropathology cases annually. There is a vast spectrum of cases with a wide range of complexity. The faculty consist of 37 practicing pathologists and 5 Ph.D technical directors. The practice is a hybrid of general and subspecialty-based sign-out. Current expertise (subspecialty training or interest) within the group includes cytopathology, clinical informatics, breast pathology, dermatopathology, GI pathology, GYN pathology, hematopathology, lung pathology, molecular pathology, neuropathology, pediatric pathology, renal pathology and soft tissue pathology, A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience is available at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston.
