The Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a Board Certified/ Board Eligible Cytopathologist for our central Anatomic Pathology Services practice, serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties in Long Island and the Queens borough of New York City. This central practice covers the tertiary Long Island Jewish Medical Center, with its robust Surgical Oncology programming for the central region of the 21-hospital Northwell Health system, and the quaternary North Shore University Hospital. The annual volume of cytology cases exceeded 196,000 in 2022, of which 165,000 were gynecologic, 25,000 non-gynecologic and 10,000 were FNA specimens. The department has an excellent ACGME accredited Cytopathology fellowship program. In this role, the cytopathologist will be responsible for interpreting and reporting all cytopathology specimens, be a faculty member of the Department of Anatomic Pathology, participating in frozen section and surgical sub-specialty sign out and will be expected to support the education of fellows and physicians-in- training. A strong academic background with demonstrated academic accomplishments is desirable. Candidates proficient in performing FNA procedures with and without ultrasound guidance are preferred.
