The role you’ll contribute:
Processes specimens for pathologic diagnosis, tissue fixation, processing, preparing and staining slides for microscopic examination by the pathologist.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
•Performs analytical activities related to specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special histologic staining, frozen sectioning, cover slipping and handling of irreplaceable tissue, surgical and body fluid specimens
•May prepare specimens utilized for research requests
•May transport specimens to/from collection sites and is responsible for shipment of specimens to/from collaborator sites; takes the necessary training to ensure compliance under federal/state /regulatory guidelines
•Ensures special stains are performed on tissues, as needed
•May perform special staining, maintaining solutions and documents quality control.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
•Highschool degree or equivalent
•Associate's degree or Technical degree in a related field
•One year of technical experience as a Histology technician/technologist in a Histology laboratory setting
