Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager-Blood Bank Operations.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for operational oversight of all aspects of complex manual, automated and reference immunohematology testing and reporting, in various laboratory sites (Tisch Main BB, LOH BB, and Perlmutter Cancer Center (PCC) and Ambulatory Care Center (ACC); blood component and coagulation factor concentrate preparation and dispensing to Tisch/Kimmel, LOH, PCC, Hassenfeld Childrens Clinic, ACC and any new centers to be added in future. This position requires expert Immunohematology skills, hematopoietic progenitor cell knowledge (HPC), blood bank logistical skills for assessment and deployment of staff and blood/stem cell resources for planned, same day, urgent and emergent patient and blood testing and transfusion. Staffing and performance management of supervisory, technical and service staff is integral.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees staff scheduling, payroll, technical supervisory review, inventory management.
- Provides administrative and supervisory backup as needed. Allocates staff and backup coverage according to approved safety guidelines and budgetary formulas for Tisch BB and LOH BB.
- Onboards new staff hires, creates training schedule and documents. Enters computer access requests in Epic and HCLL WellSky for staff.
- Prepares competency assessments documents forTH, LOH, and PCC staff. Performs competency assessments of TH, LOH, and PCC supervisory staff.
- Assigns annual courses in FOCUS and maintains staff personnel files. Oversees Continuing Education activities.
- Responsible for CAP PT assignments and submission.
- Reconciles blood invoices for payment.
- Reviews monthly equipment QC records.
- Responsible for sending outside reference lab reports to Medical Records for entry into Epic.
- Internal/External Assessments: Participates as directed in corrective action plans, preventive action planning, and quality monitoring activities.
- Cooperates with BB/Clinical Labs Quality Assurance and MCIT in the integration of internal and external quality audits, proficiency testing, validations of equipment, methods and IT systems into the daily workload.
- Statistics: Prepare monthly statistics. Prepares and submits NYS BSAR for TH, PCC and ACC.
- Oversees HaemoBank and Rees Monitoring system: add users,make barcode labels, consult with vendor.
- Serves as clinical liaison with clinical and nursing staff providing care to Inpatient and Outpatient services, ED and Off-Campus sites. Serves as liaison with various outside vendors.
- Maintain professional currency in the field of immunohematology and blood banking by attending programs that provide a minimum of twelve CEU per year.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- NYS Clinical Technologist License.
- BS. in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or Physical Sciences from an accredited college or university.
- 3-5 years Supervisory experience in advanced, full service blood bank.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:Advanced Degree (MA, MS,); professional certification such as BB (ASCP) or SBB (ASCP); Immunohematology reference lab experience 1+ years; familiarity with WellSky Transfusion and Epic computer systems.
