Description

SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION:

The overarching goal of the Gu Lab is to develop novel therapy for the regeneration of heart, lung, and vasculature in patients with congenital cardiac and pulmonary defects. Towards this goal, the Gu Lab conducts translational and interdisciplinary research using patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), vessel and lung organoids, animal models, and single cell RNA/ATAC sequencing for disease modeling and high-throughput drug screening.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

???Perform experiments and record data
Follow research protocol. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments. Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy. Apply standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques. Assists in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.

???Lab Administration
Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Maintain cell cultures. Operate standard laboratory equipment. Use and maintains laboratory equipment appropriately. Responds to obviously erroneous results or problems with equipment. Assists in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness.. Provides appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.).

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required for RAII:

??? High school diploma or equivalent

??? 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline. or equivalent combination of education and experience

???May require an Associate degree, vocational training, apprenticeships or equivalent

Required for RAIII:

??? Bachelor's degree in a related field

??? 1 year of work experience in a related job discipline OR Master's degree in a related field
