Recognizing the transformational opportunities of further integration and partnership, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is combining Pathology and Laboratory Medicine into a single Department under the leadership of an inaugural Chair. This new leader will have programmatic oversight and responsibility for all pathology and laboratory services and will shape the strategic priorities of the new Department, related to advancing its clinical, research, and education missions.
The new Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine will possess the following qualifications:
An outstanding leader who inspires, builds, and motivates teams.
An accomplished physician executive (MD or MD/PhD) with an outstanding track record of accomplishment in cancer care, education, and research; the Chair may be Board Certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
Nationally or internationally recognized clinician in the field of oncology.
6 8 years of administrative and leadership experience at an academic institution or cancer center, serving as a Department Chair, Vice Chair, Section/Division Chief, and/or a Director.
A dedicated clinician with an outstanding reputation for clinical excellence; an actively practicing physician is preferred.
Candidate must meet requirements for medical licensure in New York State.
Experience in research, training, and clinical achievement, commensurate with appointment to the faculty at the rank of Full Professor.
A track record of recruiting, developing, and cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team and culture.
Experience overseeing clinical operations and quality performance, ideally supporting both the inpatient and outpatient care settings.
Able to grow research programs and to continue the tradition of academic excellence.
Experience building new and innovative clinical and multi-disciplinary programs, in alignment with organizational priorities and patient needs.
Excellent communication and listening skills; able to unite and inspire a diverse group of faculty and staff members.
Collaborative relationship-building skills, with an ability to successfully partner and build consensus with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Experience developing and mentoring academic and clinical leaders; demonstrated ability to identify and recruit high-performing, diverse leaders and faculty at all levels.
