The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) performs duties in the Cardiac Cath Lab & Electrophysiology Lab under the division of Cardiology. The DRT primarily functions in a combined Scrub/Table role during invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures. Duties include but are not limited to: Operate complex equipment used during procedures such as Intravascular Ultrasound equipment, Atherectomy & Thrombectomy equipment, intra-aortic balloon pump, temporary transvenous &/or external pacemaker, defibrillator, intracardiac echo imaging, contrast power injector, cautery, archival system equipment and other complex modalities specific to the procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath Lab and Electrophysiology Lab. Perform venous and arterial sheath removal independently utilizing mechanical and manual hemostasis maneuvers/skills. Provide care for patients undergoing invasive procedures where surgical precautions and techniques are enforced. Maintain the sterile field and accurately maintains and communicates surgical counts in the performance of procedures. Ensure quality assurance & safety checks are successfully on Radiologic and other Cath Lab equipment and is able to troubleshoot Xray system during procedures. Monitor contrast usage and radiation exposure during procedures alerting the Cardiologist of any values that are of significance per VA Policy and Procedures. Maintain adequate levels of supplies within their assigned room and monitors supplies for outdates. Provide cross coverage for the application of Holter Monitors and Zio Patches for patient arrhythmia monitoring. Perform necessary computer work, pre and post procedure, prepares required procedural/patient forms, gathers relevant patient information from sources such as medical records, families and health care providers associated with patient exams. ***Intermittent Position. Minimum work requirement includes availability for two 8-hour shifts per month at minimum.*** Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; Day Shift. No On-Call or Weekends.
