| This Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT), Computed Tomography (CT), position is assigned to the Coatesville VA, Radiology Service. The Advanced DRT, CT, employee at this level is fully functional as an Advanced DRT and can carry out the assigned tasks independently. The DRT is multi-modality and will work in CT and general diagnostic areas equally. This specialty modality requires specific knowledgeable of cross-sectional human anatomy and its application in spiral, and/or, multi-slice computer tomography, inclusive of 3-D reconstruction scans, including drainages, biopsies, and peripheral vascular examinations. The technologist requires specific knowledge and training in the location, appearance, and function of the various major and minor systems susceptible to radiological illumination; to interpret the examination request accurately; to understand the functioning and inter-relationship of the various organs; to use the methods and techniques which will identify organs appearing on the digital display monitor, or on film, and the various stages of the examination to judge the acceptability of the image and/or scan for diagnostic use and to emphasize the aspects of particular interest to the physician. This subspecialty requires advanced ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT). List of Functional Requirements Technologist meets the requirements set forth by Coatesville VA; BLS (RQI) Certification is maintained on a quarterly basis and always complies. Independently performs routine to moderately complex radiographic procedures. These exams are achieved by using diagnostic x-ray equipment such as fluoroscopic units and digital radiography. Performs radiographic exams at the bedside providing diagnostic x-rays to the professional staff on patients that are unable to be x-rayed in the Radiology Service due to incapacity. Accurately operates a wide variety of imaging equipment to obtain examinations of acceptable quality, utilizing the least amount of radiation to obtain quality imaging for diagnosis and localization purposes. Technologist works under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor and rotates all responsibilities within the CT section. He/she works independently on most exams but confers with Radiologists and Lead CT Technologist on more difficult problems. Work is spot-checked for achievement of objectives. Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and physiology including location, appearance, and functioning of the major and minor systems susceptible to radiographic illumination, and knowledge of changes to systems and organs caused by common medical and surgical diseases. Performs all aspects of CT imaging to include: Head, Neck, Chest, Abdomen, Pelvis Extremities, 3D Reconstructions of CT, Multi-Planar Reformats CT and Angiographic studies when requested and/or when part of a standard procedure. Performs CT Angiography of the Circle of Willis, Carotids, Abdominal Aortas, Run-Off's, utilizing specialized series to visualize the anatomy and pathology necessary for diagnosis. The radiographic goal of CT is to provide high quality axial imaging; generate the best possible images at the minimal radiation dose necessary to the patient. Technologist is required to maintain competence in Venipuncture and refer to the Radiology Service procedure manual for guidelines on; Administration of Contrast Media After-Hours, Guidelines for Power Injection of Contrast Media, and CT Section and policy for use of Contrast Media. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, 40 hours per week Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Physical Requirements: The physical demands of the work includes: Heavy lifting, 45 pounds and over; moderate carrying, 15-44 pounds; pushing up to 4 hours; reaching above shoulder; use of fingers, good dexterity (both hands required); prolonged walking, prolonged standing; repeated bending; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20; ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing (aid permitted); speed in working; and emotional stability.
