The Diagnostic Radiologic Technician will serve as Supervisory Technologist at medical facilities with comprehensive and complex radiographic and imaging programs. Employees in assignment plan and direct the technical operations of the Imaging Department at affiliated medical centers or outpatient clinics, and have full supervisory responsibility for clinical staff. The program typically includes full variety of specialties. This position is primarily assigned to the University Drive Campus. Although assigned to a particular duty station, incumbent may be required to work at either facility (HJ Heinz and University Drive). Major duties include, but are not limited to: Analyzes policies for changes brought about by administrative, regulatory and technological changes. Ensures that the technologist are in compliance to all appropriate regulatory agencies (JC, NRC, FDA, ACR). Prepares drafts of changes. Develops and interprets clinical policies in unstable situations of growth and integration of the organization. Provides policy guidance and direction, formulates plans and provides advice on resolving problems. Incumbent is responsible for supporting the Radiation Safety Program to ensure monitoring devices, beam restricting devices, protective shielding, and warning and identifying devices. They are available to assist with questions or coordinate times for inspections. If applicable the incumbent is also the MRI Safety Officer and Chair of the Radiology MRI Safety Committee. The incumbent will correlate through proper communication with other services on behalf of the Management Services Officer required radiation safety procedures. Assists in preparing the department for the Systematic External Review Program Inspections such as JC, CAP, OIG, and GAO. Keeps abreast in all Occupational Safety, Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and changes, and recommends and implements such changes within the Imaging Department Policy and Procedures. The incumbent will have direct oversight and supervision of all technologists in the Imaging Department This includes day to day oversight, scheduled work, performance appraisals, recruitment and disciplinary actions and other associated duties. Investigates, with the appropriate supervisor, employee and union related complaints or grievances to resolve the facts and problems at the lowest possible level or develops information and facts for the processing of a formal action. Investigates/locates vendors for recurring imaging supplies needed for interventional radiology procedures, radiology procedures and staff radiation protective gear. Controls an internal system of records and files for instruments and supplies and keeps them available for immediate recall and inspection upon request of staff or auditors. Reviews Quality Assurance Program criteria and its function in the Imaging Department . Analyzes the quality Assurance methodology as it applies to the service in its divisions. Reviews operation and documentation of the clinical staff. Work Schedule: 7:30AM-4:00pm, Monday through Friday. May have a rotating schedule based on unit needs.
