Education, experience and length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine final compensable annual salary. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be authorized for highly qualified applicants. This is an open continuous announcement for a full-time position and will remain opened until the position is filled or closing date of September 30, 2021. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received and referred to the hiring manger for consideration. The Ophthalmology physician is assigned to Surgical Services, Ophthalmology Section, of the Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Fellowship training as a Glaucoma Specialist is highly preferred and recommended. The incumbent will provide comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of Ophthalmology. The scope of these activities covers hospitalized patients and all phases of ambulatory care. Other responsibilities may include education of medical students and residents and/ or supervision of other staff. The Ophthalmologist is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with medical diseases, accomplished through ambulatory and bed-based resources assigned to Ophthalmology and Optometry. Incumbent must actively participate in patient care through hospital rounds, morning reports, conferences, consultations, participation in ambulatory care, assigned call duty, and other similar activities. Focused on total eye care prevention, wellness and eye surgery as the overriding philosophy of practice. Provide cost-effective patient care, provider while assuring adequate access and maintaining a high level of quality as measured by patient satisfaction. Complex, comprehensive eye examinations in regularly scheduled outpatient clinics. The incumbent provides complex diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic eye care to patients including laser and surgical intervention. The incumbent contributes to teaching and supervision of Ophthalmology residents in outpatient clinic and supervision of eye surgery cases in the Operating Room. The incumbent performs other directly related duties as assigned, including performance of community care referrals as needed. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM (Weekends, evenings and Holidays as required) Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
