The Amarillo VA Health Care System is currently recruiting for a full time Physician (Neurologist). The Staff Neurologist will specialize in treating and managing neurological conditions of Veteran patients who are experiencing seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, neurodegenerative disorders, migraines, and much more. He/she will work with primary care physicians on a consulting basis should a patient show symptoms related to a neurological issue. Other duties include: Diagnosing neurological disorders and order diagnostic tests such as blood tests and imaging tests to aid in identifying neurological disorders. Other duties include: Perform a history, neurological exam, and evaluate the outcome of a Lumbar puncture, Tensilon test, and EEG. Therapeutic Ability-Prescribes appropriate and timely treatment; applies indicated therapeutic procedure, recognizes and assess changes in behavior, symptoms, signs, and other pertinent facts about the patient and modifies a plan of treatment when indicated. Consultations and Specialty Skills- Recognizes the need for consultation and utilizing facility or clinic skill in diagnosis and treatment. Record Keeping- Physical and other examinations and changes in the patient's status are promptly and completely recorded. All progress notes, orders are to be completed and signed daily. Develop treatment plan(s) for patient and their specific condition. Encounters Management- All encounters to be completed daily by physician as this affects patient safety and hospital funding. Consults Closure- Consults are required to be completed by the provider at the time patient has been seen. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and may vary by the hiring organization. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
