This position is located in the Department of Surgery, Orthopedic Service, Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, NY and supports the Network 2 Mission to care for our Veterans with compassion and excellence. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care and surgery as well as teaching and resident supervision within the Orthopedic Surgery Section. Duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Albany, NY. The selected candidate will follow established guidelines, ethics, and policies and protocols of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Stratton VAMC and the profession. Each Orthopedic surgeon functions as a cooperative and collegial team member with the entire staff. If selected, your basic responsibilities will include: Delivering the best possible orthopedic care to our Veteran patients. Participating in and/or managing all aspects of a general orthopedic program to include clinical, administrative, and academic components. Participating in and/or managing a broad range of orthopedic surgery practice. This encompasses all areas of general orthopedic and musculoskeletal surgery including major joint reconstructive services. Performing surgery and provide pre-op and post-op care as indicated for major and minor procedures, as well as orthopedic consultation for inpatients and outpatients. Maintaining good diagnostic, judgmental, and therapeutic acumen. Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) in accordance with facility policy. Serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested. Teaching colleagues, residents, medical and nursing students, other ancillary staff. Participating in a shared rotation of night and weekend on-call coverage. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Education Debt Reduction Program: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program, a student loan reimbursement program. If selected for this position you must meet specific eligibility requirements, and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment services Office.
