Department Profile:
The Laboratory Department delivers comprehensive clinical and anatomic pathology services with state of the art instrumentation complimented by professional expertise. More than 3 million billable orders are processed annually. Testing is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologist, COLA, and CLIA to achieve the highest standard of excellence. The Laboratory is staffed with medical technologists, lab assistants, and phlebotomists. A certified Medical Technologist Program supplements future staffing. A research-driven testing menu with quick result reporting allows the department to support clinical decisions in chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, coagulation, anatomic pathology, cytology, microbiology, flow cytometry and molecular diagnostics for patients of all ages. The department also supports point of care testing in the hospital and the offsite facilities. Job Summary: Under general supervision, independently performs all levels of moderate and high complexity testing, following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines. Responsible for performing routine and specialized technical analyses. Operates and maintains instrumentation according to established laboratory procedures and protocols. Exercises independent judgement in recognizing and solving test related problems. Performs technical job duties as specified in CAP Regulations. Personnel Requirements for Tests of Moderate and High Complexity - Testing. Also responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Must be currently licensed or pending licensure as a Medical Technologist by the State of Florida Department of Health. |
