The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine invites applicants with an M.D. or D.O. degree to apply for a full-time academic oriented Associate/Professor position to be Director of the Division of Cytopathology. Academic rank, compensation, and appointment type will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The applicant should have board certification in Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology. The candidate should be accomplished in providing excellent diagnostic service, possess strong communication skills, committed to teaching and training of residents, fellows, and medical students, mentoring faculty, and have a strong record of participation in peer reviewed clinical and translational research. The position is constructed as Cytopathology or Cytopathology/subspecialty surgical pathology (Gyn, Pulmonary, Head and Neck, GU), Molecular pathology, or Informatics). Responsibilities for the position are with the University of Miami network of hospitals and clinics (UHealth), Sylvester Cancer Center, and the flagship county hospital of Miami-Dade County, Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The Division of Cytopathology includes four faculty and two ACGME fellowship positions. The Division handles a large volume of gyn and non-gyn specimens from all organ systems. The department provides a broad array of molecular and cytogenetic diagnostic testing to supplement microscopy. There is the potential to develop an FNA service overseen by the Department. The spectrum of cytopathology is remarkable and challenging and opportunities to collaborate with funded researchers are numerous. The Cytopathology Fellowship Program attracts excellent candidates.
