University of Vermont Medical Center, Vermont’s academic medical center and founding member of the University of Vermont Health Network, seeks a Cytotechnologist.
Evaluate cellular samples for the presence of infectious processes, precancerous changes and invasive cancer. Report final diagnoses on negative gynecologic samples. UVMMC utilizes the Hologic ThinPrep Imaging System (TIS) for all gynecologic samples. Render preliminary diagnoses on all non-gynecologic samples and fine needle aspirations. Assist clinician colleagues with slide preparation during fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures and perform on-site adequacy assessments (ROSE) as needed. Our ROSE service is robust and includes Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endobronchial Ultrasound (UBUS). Opportunity to learn PD-L1 and CISH evaluation and interpretation. We are an Academic Medical Center and this position will involve some training of Pathology Residents, Medical Students and Cytopathology Fellow. We perform over 20,000 Pap tests and ~6,000 Non GYN/FNA samples. We service clients from Northern New Hampshire, Vermont, and Northern New York. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, plus 12 months of training in a CAAHEP accredited school of cytotechnology, or equivalency qualification as specified by CLIA’88 Certification. Cytotechnologist board certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology, CT(ASCP), or eligible.
Two years’ experience preferred.
