Blood Bank Technologists/Supervisors: Full Time/Part Time – Evening/Night Operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing more than 45,000 units of blood, platelets, and plasma for transfusion every year.
Chemistry Technologists: Full Time – Evening/Night Reflects the state-of-the-art in automation and technology in laboratory medicine.
Hematology Technologists: Full Time/Part Time – Evening/NightPerforming a wide range of routine and special hematology and coagulation testing, this lab serves MSH, including the Ruttenberg Cancer Center and extensive outpatient and community outreach programs.
Lab Automation Technologists/Supervisors: Full Time – Evening/Night Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology and Chemistry consolidated into a centralized
With minimal supervision, the Clinical Laboratory Technologist performs technical laboratory testing in order to facilitate optimum patient care in accordance with Laboratory policy and procedure, and FDA, CAP, AABB, OSHA, CLIA, and JCAHO regulations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Performs and reports assigned analytical tests, including high complexity tests on biological specimens, in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with documented laboratory procedures.
Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/ unusual results. Documents unacceptable specimens according to appropriate policy. Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel.
Maintains QA policies and procedures to ensure validity of results. Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results and takes appropriate action according to predetermined protocols. Performs quality control for all testing and meets established ranges before patient results are released.
Maintains a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work area, and monitoring temperatures in accordance with regulatory agencies and hospital policies. Recognizes and troubleshoots malfunctions of advanced technological equipment and initiates corrective action.
Enters test results into the Laboratory Information System in order for standardized report to be generated for physicians review and interpretation. Informs appropriate personnel of department supply needs ensuring uninterrupted testing.
Attends various meetings regarding safety and Quality Control issues in order to keep informed of current lab and hospital safety policies.
Maintains clinical competency and current professional knowledge by reading relevant journal articles and attending training sessions.
Performs other related duties as assigned in order to expedite the testing process and support the achievement of department goals and objectives.
Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology required
At least 1 year preferred; New Grads welcome
Supervisors must have at least 3-5 years of experience in Laboratory
Licensing and Certification Requirements:
Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required (or ability to obtain license)
