To assume responsibility for operation and management of Sleep Disorders Laboratory, technicians and technologies in accordance with specifications of American Sleep Disorders Association (ASDA), Association of Polysomnographic Technologist (APT) and hospital policies and procedures.
Advises, trains, counsels, disciplines, establishes goals and evaluates staff members. Provides opportunities for professional growth and development and continuing education for staff and self. Prepares training workshops and lectures for staff to increase knowledge of sleep disorders.
Assists in short/long range planning relative to promotion of sleep services to consumer public and physicians for system.
Communicates problems or concerns to Vice President or Medical Director as necessary. Interacts with referring physicians as necessary and appropriate.
Develops, monitors and maintains annual operational and capital budgets, ensuring effective departmental operations.
Maintains supplies and equipment for sleep center in most cost effective way. Reviews all incoming equipment, inspects invoices, monitors malfunctioning equipment and requests repairs as necessary.
Participates and reports to administration quality assurance of improvements within hospital standards. Recommends ASDA and APT improvements within sleep center.
Performs all technical job duties required for Registered Polysomnographic Technologist position as necessary.
Performs quality indicators on employees including review of technologist monitoring, recording and scoring. Completes and reviews quality assurance forms for 90% accuracy at least bi-weekly.
Provides community with various forms of sleep disorder information.
Provides direct patient care by effectively responding to needs of patient including, but not limited to, abstracting patient information, ensuring patient's comfort and providing assistance as necessary.
Required: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care, Sleep Diagnostic or EEG Technology program.
Required: 3 years progressively responsible experience in healthcare
Required: BLS; RRT, Registered EEG Technology or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or acquire within 6 months of hire
