This individual will prepare histological specimens onto microscopic slides according to procedures and accepted standards to initiate pathologist review and interpretation.
This individual is responsible for:
Performing embedding and microtomy on a wide range of patient specimens in an accurate and efficient manner.
Using standardized laboratory protocols, assisting pathologists at off-site locations in the gross dissection and frozen section preparation for the completion of necessary testing.
Performing quality control assessments and routine instrument maintenance using accrediting agency standards and manufacturer specifications to assure accuracy of laboratory test results.
Performing special stains, direct immunofluorescence and IHC stains.
Maintaining skills and knowledge through continuing education to provide expected standard of care and meet regulatory requirements related to safety and infection control policies.
The ideal individual will be HT or HTL (ASCP) board certified or eligible; have strong verbal communication skills; possess basic computer skills. Attention to detail and flexibility required.
