Santa Monica, California -- World-renowned John Wayne Cancer Institute is searching for an exceptional Surgical Breast Oncologist and Professor of Surgical Oncology to serve as the new Medical Director of the Margie Petersen Breast Center at Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica.This is a full-time position for a charismatic, proven leader in breast cancer clinical and translational programs who can implement an ambitious vision that builds on the legacy of more than 20 years of excellence in cancer treatment, care and research at the Institute. The ideal candidate will have surgical oncology fellowship training, teaching experience in an academic setting, and a sterling record of clinical practice, innovation, program development, and translational research. We anticipate the new director will be involved in developing interactive services with breast cancer programs at other Providence locations throughout the West Coast.* The John Wayne Cancer Institute has been an international leader on many fronts:* Cutting-edge research arm that, among other successes, pioneered Sentinel Node Biopsy for breast cancer and melanoma* State-of-the-art genome and transcriptome sequencing service* Comprehensive breast center database and legacy pathology tissue block collection* Active immune monitoring center that supports breast cancer research* Diagnostic divisions in imaging and pathology fully specialized in diseases of the breast, contributing to seminal research work in this area* Multidisciplinary basic, clinical and translational research on many complex cancer problems, with particular expertise in melanoma, breast cancer, primary and secondary brain tumors, neuroendocrine tumors, gastro-intestinal cancers and sarcoma* Research program includes state-of-the art genomic translational medicine* Significant domestic and international experience with Phase I, II and III clinical trials* The Institute's surgical oncology fellowship program is one of only 16 U.S. programs approved by the Society of Surgical OncologyThe Breast Center offers patients the full scope of treatment, including oncological and reconstructive surgery, radiation oncology, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and innovative clinical trials. Breast Center support includes mammography, surgical pathology and cytopathology, including in-clinic fine needle aspiration biopsy service, and patient care services.
